Trials dirt bike riding, or simply trials, is a specialized form of off-road motorcycling where riders navigate a series of obstacles in a controlled environment, like rocks, logs, steep hills, and narrow paths, without putting their feet on the ground. The goal is to complete the course, or section, as cleanly as possible, meaning without touching the ground with their feet, or committing other errors (called dabs).

It's a test of balance, control, and technical riding skills rather than speed. The bikes used are lightweight and designed for precision and maneuverability. Unlike motocross, trials riding emphasizes slow, deliberate movements over speed or jumping.

Competitions are held in various difficulty levels, and riders are scored based on how many faults or dabs they incur while attempting to clear the obstacles.

Marlborough Moto Trials run practise days and events throughout the Marlbrough region welcome to all levels and dirt bikes!
